The Sun

The Baltimore Sun is more or less the “newspaper of record” for Baltimore, Maryland. Its main office is a large brick building at 501 N. Calvert St.

The Sun was founded in 1837. If you have a Baltimore (Enoch Pratt) library card, you can access almost ever Sun article ever written. Likewise if you have a library card with Baltimore County.

According to The Sun‘s history of itself, the newspaper was operated by the Abell Co. from inception until 1986, when it was sold to the Times Mirror Company of Los Angeles.

The Sun is currently owned by the Tribune Company of Chicago, Illinois. The Sun reports that it may soon change owners, although it will still have to pay rent to Tribune Co.
